Selos de Natal: Alemanha 2009

The special stamps in the series "Christmas" appear with surcharges for the "Federal Association of Voluntary Welfare Services". The Christmas of 2009 motifs show representations of the Nativity and the Adoration of the Magi from one of the finest late medieval manuscripts. The so-called Hoya-missal, a magnificent Gothic Missal, with 56 initials and a rich picture and initial Randornamentik, is one of the masterpieces of the golden age of Holland illumination. It is stylistically the manuscripts from the school of "Master of the Zweder van Culemborg attributed and dated 1420/30. The Hoya-missal is named after its first owner Johann von Hoya, Prince-Bishop of Osnabruck and Munster.
The stamp is 45 cents + 20 shows an initial Adoration of the Magi. Links Mary sits with the child on her lap. Both are equipped with Nimbus, the infant Jesus with a cross nimbus. Left in the background Joseph is recognized. The right side of the initial take on the Magi.

Stamps per 0,45 € surcharge of 0.20 € in the 10-sheets, suitable for domestic postage on postcards. Size of individual mark: 46 x 27.32 mm.
